Hi Susan,
Thank you! Pups name is Pepper! You sure can use it on your website!
Pepper is extremely loveable! I have never owned a dog that is as affectionate as what she is. She loves to snuggle up and show you just how much she loves you! Pepper has brought new life to our older lab mix. We thought Slugger was going to be leaving us. Slugger started having seizures and wasn't very playful. We brought Pepper home and she hasn't had a seizure since. Slugger also has so much more energy now that Pepper is around. Slugger and Pepper love to chase each other and try to steel each others bones. They get along beautiful. Pepper keeps us on our toes with all the energy she has and how smart she is! We are always getting asked what kind of dog she is and told how beautiful she is! We love her!

Hey this is Patty. I just thought I would update you with some picture we have taken over the past few months of the puppy "Chief" we bought from you a few months ago. Chief is a beautiful and happy puppy and is very much enjoying life. :) Hope you enjoy the pictures we are sending. Thanks.

-Patty

P.S. Chief shows strong herding instincts. He enjoys keeping our Guineas rounded up in our pen.

Hi Susan,
I've been meaning to write you for some time now. My apologies in it taking so long! I've attached some recent photos of Bristol Lynn since we got her from you in April. Mia, our Siberian Husky, has taken very well to her. Mia is very tolerable to her extended play moods and doesn't seem to mind sharing the attention! Bristol loves her freedom of being outside during the day (when we're not home) to explore and run around on our property with Mia. And when they are in the house, Bristol is always trying to be right in the middle of things to get as much attention as she can! At 4 mo old she now weighs 30 lbs and loves her squeeker toys and likes to play fetch with Joel. She is definitely a character and keeps us laughing... funny and somewhat clutsy too in her own way. And boy can she jump or leap! But most of all she is loved by everyone in our household and then some!

Take care,
Terry

Hi Susan,
Attached are a few pictures of Tallulah. It is not clear in the pictures, but her eyes are each one half blue and one half brown now. It makes her look like a sad hound, but clearly she is not. She is a firecracker in perpetual motion. When we were making up our minds as to which of your puppies we wanted to take home, you told us that of all your puppies, she showed a tendency to be hardheaded. That she is, but it is this high spiritedness that really makes her so adorable.

She is so beautiful that when we take her for walks, we can't get very far without being stopped to inquire about this spectacular pup with the unique markings and eyes. She loves to run and play in the field across the street, and looks forward for her long walks every evening. The only problem in her playing is that we have a Chocolate Lab whose feels that her main purpose in life is to "retrieve." She will do that all night long if we let her, but if Tallulah catches up to the ball we are throwing first, she takes off with it. She has that look on her face like, check my job description, I am not a retriever...I am keeping this ball! During the day while I am at work, she is at my mothers (aka: Doggie Daycare) along with the Chocolate Lab and my sisters Chihuahua. She easily fit into that little dog pack right away.

Tallulah weighs 33 pounds, and is wiry and getting muscled up. She still loves to be carried around the house like a baby, but a few more weeks and that will not be possible. She will be starting obedience school on June 22, kind of like summer camp!

In the pictures I am sending along, you will see Talllulah sleeping on the couch. She is not allowed on couch, but waits until we leave the room and helps herself to the most comfortable spot on the couch. It is funny to watch her "herd" the other two dogs around the house like they are cattle. They are older, but follow her. Your dogs are fantastic. Of course, we think Tallulah is the pick of the litter!

Sure. We hope you do post our testimonial. I am very proud of my dog. You are right. She is quite a conversationalist. Every morning when I am getting dressed she follows me around the house chatting it up. It is hilarious. When anyone says anything directly to her, she answers back. I have never seen a dog like her.

She loves people. That is why I never leave her alone. When I am work, she is at my mothers. There always people there and other dogs. She loves my sister and sits on her lap as much as she can.

Thanks, Jake

Hello Susan,

I hope that your Thanksgiving was wonderful, and that you are looking forward to a happy Holiday season.  Here are a few pictures of our sweet and not-so-little girl anymore: at five months Una is a healthy 55 lbs.  She still has a few things to learn, a task slowed by the fact that our kids needed to be trained themselves on how to behave around a dog, but they are all coming around nicely.  Una is very active, playful, smart (too smart for her own good, sometimes!), is always up for a jog, and follows me around the house on my chores.  She is also very sweet, loves to lay on our laps for 'pack time', and is very protective and friendly.  What can I say, except we love her!

The photos are in chronological order.  You can see by now she is already taller than my 4-year-old!

Best wishes,

-Tatiana

Hi Susan

Just wanted you to know that Beauregard is doing great and he is going to doggy day care tomorrow for a good puppy work out.

He hates the cold and yes we have to use an umbrella for when it is raining outside.  I can't imagine him in Washington State where the weather is cold.  He will be spending a week in the Keys for the day after Christmas and for New Year.

Cheers,  mj

Susan

We would love for you to post them.  She is getting darker.  She has a rust tone on her white points and three different color brown spots.  We are on the front porch enjoying the thaw and the pups.  Karl said he is on the third dry day in the house for potty training. I think sleeping in bed with Karl helps.

Karl gives lots of praise and just wiped up when she had an accident. I truly mean she sleeps with him.  His brother in law asked what he was going to do when she gets big. He said " why get a bigger bed if I need one." he is quite smitten.  I don't know much about the breed standards but she is just so showy in both posture and coloring. We love her.

Hi Susan,

Greetings from Seattle!  Life is pretty good here and I’m settling in well.   I weighed in at 18.1 lbs yesterday – can you believe that?!  Mom and Dad say it’s all in my legs.

Mom keeps threatening that she’s going to starve me to keep me little.  I know she’s teasing, but I also work on supplementing my diet with random socks and throw rugs just in case.

I’m quite the celebrity around the neighborhood!  Mom and Dad are always complaining about errands that should take 10 minutes now taking 45 because they have to keep stopping to let people admire me.  I can’t help it – I’m just so dang cute!  Dad often lets me ride along with him during the work day as his road buddy.  It’s pretty cool because most of his clients have kids so I get some play time.  I’ve also been playing with a few other four-legged critters like myself.  We have fun but mostly I just like stealing their toys.  I also have a bunch of friends to keep me company during the day… Squidly, Wubba, Ducky and Pheasy are my favorites.  I keep bringing them to mom to as a gift, but she just throws them so I always have to go get them again.  I don’t understand her problem!

School starts on the 26th of this month.  Mom and Dad have been working pretty hard to make sure I’m the star pupil before we even begin.  I can sit, stay, come, and leave it.  They’re trying to work on something called “drop” but I just don’t get it.

Anyways, I’m attaching a few photos of my life around here.  I’ll keep in touch as time goes on.

Warmest,

Brandy (aka “Little Chompy”)

Daisy at work again with my son Ben. What a marshmallow.

I'm completely in love with her. She to me as well. She was across the living room and has to climb (literally) onto my lap just to cuddle for a bit then goes about her business harassing the cats or whatever catches her eye. The marks on her nose are from a misunderstand between her and our big fluffy white house cat.

Of course you can use pics of her. I will send more as the season warms and she matures more. I love taking pics of her. Wish I could do my makeup as well as she does LOL. I wish I could see Angel and Bandit some day to see who she really looks like. Pics show Bandit but I haven't see really nice ones of Angel. If you have some please send.

Have a great day!

Hi Susan

Cletus settled in very well.  He makes us laugh though because he doesn't like to go out in the rain. Welcome to the West Coast!  He did enjoy the first snow fall.

He is a very smart boy!  We try to stay one step ahead of him at all times.  He was crate trained from day one, he was always brought out side to relieve himself NO PEE PADS.  He rings a little bell by the back door to let us know that he wants to go out.  He sits, stays, lays down and has done so since about 8 weeks.  He knows to sit and wait for the okay before he touches any food.  We can even hold the treat right to his nose and he waits.

We did have to buy a walking harness for him because he wants to pull us on the walks.  It made the world of a difference to us and our arms:)

He is about 45 pounds, not too bad for the runt. Oh yeah, he loves his bubble baths.

Hi Susan,
Wow!  time is flying by, we absolutely love our pup!  As you told me, he is the sweetest thing, so affectionate and easy.  He's grown into not being as timid and scared and boldly stumbles around at great speeds.  He loves our Main Coon cat who is is aloof and hostile to most things and people... we think the cat loves him too!

I can't thank you enough, this pup is such a treasure.
Jean

Hi Susan

Our pup who we names Andouille (like the sausage) and Dewey for short... is acclimating well.  He was so scared when I got him out of the crate in Ontario.  I borrowed my friends small dog and they spent some time running around the back yard and Dewey seemed to be getting a little more confident.  He is the most affectionate dog I've ever had and I love him dearly.

Whenever my husband is at his computer Dewey won't leave his sideMy husband has been the one to take him on walks which now he loves.  At first all the noises from Pacific Coast Highway scared him.

We love him and think he is the most beautiful, wonderful dog!  Thank you.

Hi Susan,

I’ve been taking pictures of the puppies as much as I can remember to.  They are BIG.  We’re working on obedience training now a bit, has not been a top priority as they are decently behaved, respond to some basic commands, and the fact that we’re not running around town much - yet.  They were both fixed at the end of November and recovered very quickly and well and are now both fully vaccinated.  We were walking on leash while outside for most of the time until after they healed from surgery and they now go out by themselves (and when I go out with them to play) and RUN.  And run…and run…  They seem very happy, very active, and are still very much puppies at heart.  I have photos just about every month but will just send the latest. Hi Susan

That's great! I'm so glad to hear that, I don't think I’ll ever get over how gorgeous Bandit is. Hemi is adjusting AMAZING. he's insanely bold, nothing has scared him yet. He is doing so well. I have never met such a smart dog. Yesterday I trained him to sit on command, he does it now without any treats! He'll also go into his crate to take a nap without me even locking him in. I had a coupon for a free vet exam and so I took him yesterday - everyone there loved him and said he looks great and healthy. He does get car sick though, so hopefully that'll pass as he gets older. I couldn't be any happier with him. I’ll make sure to update you and send you pics soon!

Think he'll make a good farm dog :)

Thanks again!  Marlana

Hi Susan,

I loved the pictures you sent a few weeks back, your place is just gorgeous. Just wanted to let you know Hemi is doing great. He LOVES living on the farm. My boss' red heeler has become a mom figure to him, he really looks up to her. He's been learning like crazy, knows how to sit, lay down, wait, leave it, shake, spin and we are working on play dead. Everywhere I go I get so many comments on him. I’ve even had somebody in the car next to me in an intersection ask about him. he is Very protective of me and what he thinks is his house. He's going to make a GREAT guard dog. A few weeks ago him and I were in the Salmon Days parade out in Issaquah. He did great, even with all the floats, horses and marching bands. He's growing like a weed, last I checked he was 30 pounds. I think his favorite activity is watching TV though. He will sit on my lap and not take his eyes away from the screen. I attached some pictures from the last couple months. Hope all is going well for you and all your dogs!

Hi Susan,

My little boy had his second vet appointment today. He is already 16.9 pounds! He has acclimated very well. He eats well, and he loves to play! He has so much energy already, it is hard to believe. His housebreaking is also going very well. He can be a destructive chewer if he is bored, so we have begun daily exercise to calm him down. He already runs with me- he did over a mile yesterday! It's great because he is so adorable running right next to me that people slow down when they pass to look at him. I get compliments on him all the time. Everybody wants to know what he is- nobody around here has ever seen a Catahoula! Weirdly enough, there is a veterinarian at the clinic I go to (not my doc) that has a Catahoula at home! I thought that was funny.

He is extremely lovable, and very accepting of other dogs and new people. He already know 5-6 commands, and he listens quite well (usually). This weekend we are going to the lake with another dog, and we will find out if he likes to swim. I'm looking forward to it!

I've attached some pictures for you. He is just beautiful, and we are in love already! Very soon I will use my nice camera to get some pics of him outside for your web page.

Have a great day!

Hi Susan!

Thanks for the recent pictures of the new dog, Sierra. She is gorgeous, I am sure she and Bandit will produce amazing puppies! I wanted to send you an update on Jockamo- he is doing just great! He is about 30 pounds now (a monster!) and quite a tough boy. He regularly plays with my friend's 65-pound black lab, Rado. I attached a picture of them together here. He gets along really well with people and other dogs. My boyfriend's mom just got a 5-month old shelter dog with some fear/anxiety issues- you should see how gentle and encouraging my boy is with him! It's really sweet.

He has a great personality, and is very relaxed overall. He used to be afraid of some things, like car rides and small children- but is much better now and improving still. He walks and runs really well, on loose leash and he is learning not to pull. We bought him a new dog bed and he loves to hang around on it, chewing on his toys and bones. He is very affectionate! In fact we have recently made the rules a little stricter in the house because he thinks he should be laying on top of us at all times and we are trying to teach him otherwise, haha!

As you will see in the pictures, he is simply gorgeous. He is becoming very stout, lean and muscular. And his eyes did stay blue- though the left eye looks a little greener now. He's a happy dog, and we just love him!

Take care, and I will send more updates later in the summer!

Hi Susan,

Yes, the name is Kain.  It came from spo(kane) and (can)nine and of course, all other references such as Cain and Abel and Candy Cane and such.

We must have gone through a million suggestions before we agreed upon that one.

HE IS FANTASTIC!

He has no interest in pottying in the house, has learned to navigate the stairs like a champ and is just the most playful and loving little boy.

My boys are rapidly responding to the responsibility and fun of having a puppy.  My oldest, Jordan , seems to have it down.  He is the one responsible for feeding and picking up the poop and has managed to get his wishes across to Kain very well.  Not that we are asking the pup to jump through hoops just yet, it has only been 5 days or so, but we are working on letting us know when he has to go out and ‘come’ and appropriate things to chew/not chew on (like hands and faces vs. toys).  So, they are working on how to be relaxed and yet commanding and it is really good for everyone. It is truly ALL GOOD.

You should see Kain run around the yard with them.  It is the cutest thing.

I have attached a few pictures for you (he has grown quite a bit in 5 days) and I hope you enjoy them.

I hope all is well out your way and that the other pups are good and finding good homes as well.

Again, thank you for everything and I will let you know once in a while how things are progressing.

Eric

Hi Susan,

Just wanted to send you a couple of photos we took the other day of little (not so much anymore) Kain playing in the yard.

I loved the last set you sent of Jockamo and since they were born right around the same time, thought it was my turn.

Kain is an absolute sweetheart.  He is a loving lap pup, but also active and playful.

He is well behaved and sleeps through most of the night, telling us when he needs to go out around 6:30AM at this point.

For the most part, he keeps his chewing to his own toys, although he chases and chews on our kitten, who loves it and teases him to no end.

It’s really cute that they are young together.  Our older cat just stares at him and tells him to go away, which he does.

As you can see, his green eye has ‘hazeled’ up a bit and is a light brown/green, but he is still majestically cute.

Hope all is well with you and I’ll hit you up with some more photos as we get towards the 6 month mark (or happen to catch something adorable that has to be shared).

Thanks again,

Eric

Hi Susan

The trip went well and the little pup was great! He did not whine or anything. I am absolutely in love with him. We decided to name him Phoenix. He has been settling in very well and has met many doggy friends... Here are some pictures so far. We will keep you up dated. Thank you so much Susan for our little bundle of joy :D

Hi Susan

Here is another of him. These I took last week. We got him fixed last week. We have a kitten also and they play together. Romeo puts the kittens head in his mouth but doesn’t hurt it its part of their play its funny and crazy! Romeo weighed 46lbs last vet appointment 2 weeks ago. I’m guessing he is 50 or more now! He does take items out the pet door. It’s a surprise each day to gather them each day and see what he feels should be taken outside. lol

Hi Susan,

Skylar is already so beautiful I don't know what I'm going to do if she gets prettier! We actually have people follow us around (or actually they are following her) to the point that it's slightly creepy lol. Everyone who meets her LOVES her and I swear they would steal her if they could haha.

Her commands are going well too, she can sit, down, stay, go to her bed, and it's so cute but if I point at her and yell "bang! bang!" she'll fall over on her side and play dead (well she leaves her eyes open though).

Thank you a million times over for the wonderful pup! My sister wants a Catahoula now too and when she moves to a place with more room I'll be sending her to you for a pup!

I'll send you pics soon after i figure out how to resize them

Thanks,

Hi Susan,

Thank you for sending us the updates on the puppies we love to see them.  We thought we would send you an update on Skyler and how much we are enjoying her.  She is such a good puppy and doing so well with training.  We are about potty trained and starting to learn some tricks.  We have received so many compliments on how beautiful and smart she is.  I'm so glad to see how well she is with her new big brother Harley.  The two of them are inseparable.  Skyler loves to sneak into bed and cuddle with him or even just lay next to him wherever he is. They run and play hard all day which makes for their quiet time so cute.  She has so much potential and is going to be a very beautiful dog.  Hope you enjoy the pictures and we will send updates as she gets older.

Sincerely,

Jason, Ashley and family

Hi Susan

Thanks for the photos.  Spice says hello to Angel, Spot, you and Vince.  She is doing very well, gets along with other dogs, adults and children.  I think the RV trips helped socialize her greatly.  Spice spends time while I’m at work with some close friends of mine who have 3 other dogs and 4 cats, so she has a “play group”.

Attached are some recent photos.  Hope you enjoy them.

Hello Susan!

Just thought we'd give you an update on Cyan! She is everything we hoped she'd be! And are enjoying having a Catahoula back in the house. Funny how we can really recognize those traits!

You know that blue eye has developed a very awesome amber spot in the upper corner of the eye! I love it! It totally matches her personality!

You can absolutely use the photos.... I only wish she was holding still....the pics don't do her justice....she's an absolutely stunning pup!

I've attached a couple photos I took today in the fresh snow!

Thanks again!

Susan, sending a few pictures of Nessie, so far she has been a joy and has given us a lot of laughs. You were right we are sold on the breed now. She learns so quickly, at such a young age and she knows her name well, She can sit, come and we are working on stay and shake. she knows the word NO very well. She is very close to being completely potty trained. She does not like to ride in the car so we are working on that as well. she is very vocal on what she wants. She steels everyone's heart. Scott is already talking about getting another one, Thank you for for every thing, I will keep you up dated on her and send more pictures as she get's bigger.

Hello Susan,

We got male # 1 from Midnite's June litter  - you may remember us as you shipped him to us in PA. We also named our puppy Cletus and I thought I would share that coincidence.  He is doing great - not quite housebroken yet but he continues to be crate-trained. He is super affectionate, and takes food so very gently from our hands. He adores Juno, our one-year old Newfoundland for whom we got Cletus as a playmate. We do plan to send pictures soon!

Hi Susan!

I haven’t emailed you guys in a while, figured I would send you both a picture of Ruger. My apologies though, it’s only a quick cell phone pic. I will have to pull out my real camera and take some photos of him for you guys. I snapped this pic while camping around the first of this month, and he was weighing in around 57lbs! He is very close to 65 pounds now!! We recently finished his basic obedience class, and our instructor is waiting for him to finish growing like a weed before we introduce agility obstacles. So far, he is true to the Catahoula breed… smart, stubborn but extremely loyal and affectionate to his family. He loves playing with other dogs, but still can be a little shy of strangers… but he is quickly overcoming it by learning that they might have food ;) He has already shown an extreme interest in hunting rabbits that live around our acreage, and can already retrieve objects just from scent in our pasture. We are working on our long distance recalls, and considering doing scent work.  He is just an all around great dog, he is getting so big I forget that he still just a baby.

Thank you for keeping me updated about Gus, I love hearing about him! He is such a handsome boy!!!!

-April

Susan,

Hope everything is going well. Took a pic of Ruger, thought you would like to see. He is looking an awful lot like Bandit with his expressions….I think! Everyone still harasses me about what kind of dog he is.. and where we got him, EVERY time we go out! He is a gorgeous dog.

I also attached a video of him down by our creek, at 11 wks old he was already a very good swimmer!

He weighed in at 30lbs today at 13wks, hard to believe!

-April

Susan,

Ruger had a blast at his first camping trip to the dunes, here he is taking over the trucks bench all tuckered out on the way home. By the way, he's over twenty pounds at ten wks! Growing so fast!!

We are spreading the word about catahoulas, already told a few people about you and your dogs. Everyone has to come over to meet him!

Hope all is well,
-April

Susan,

Ruger started his crate/potty training routine the night he came home. A few days ago, after one week of training he willingly goes into his crate. Most of the time with little to no instruction. It is so true what they say, you really do need to stay one step ahead of them. I am obviously a little biased here but wow he is one smart puppy.

Not only is he crate trained, but after a few small instructions and a little food bribe, he can sit and lay down consistently. Amazing.

Well, I could go on and on. I'll keep you updated on his progress, as soon as he's old enough we will start formal training for obedience, agility etc.

Attached is a pic if him in his crate, as you can see the door isn't shut and nothing is stopping him from escaping :)

Thank you again,
-April

Hi Susan,

What a brilliant litter!! I have been working with Cooper a lot. He is growing so fast! He is with me 24/7. He is doing well on his leash, he sits most of the time on command especially for food/treats, comes most of the time when called, knows what NO means, and goes to is crate when tired, EXCITING! We are working on house training, he won't potty in his crate :). We are also working on, Kisses, Get the Toy, wait, and drop it. He is a smart pup. He has been from the river to the ocean, and the woods to the city! I know we have a long way to go, but these first few weeks sure have been fun! You were right, He gets so much ATTENTION EVERYWHERE we go... He Steals the crowd! He should start pup kindergarten July 25th. Here are a few pics, enjoy!

Hi Susan

Gus is doing well...we had a ball at a Nose Work clinic couple of weeks ago.  He sure catches on quickly...it’s fun to see.  I'll send you pics, etc. of the nose work, but it's early days yet, and he's just working w/boxes...when we get outside it'll be more interesting.  He's a goof...always ready to play!

Mary

Hi Susan, Here's a quick look at Gustos (Gus)....he's growing like a weed! We're reallly loving him, and he keeps us laughing with his antics! A smart boy, who learns pretty quickly, he has fit in very well. You were so right about his mellow nature, but he lives up to his name as well. The new puppies are beautiful...you must be busy! Mary

Hi Susan, What fun to hear about Ruger, and his amazing progress...smart boy! Gus is doing very well, settling into a new routine, sleeping thru most nites in his crate and taking naps in his puppy pen. He's figuring out his place in our pack pretty well, and is learning to walk down the driveway with the big dogs. He's gotten pretty confident tho, and sometimes disappears into the brush, so I've had to start using an extendo leash a little. I love his little personality, and it'll be fun to work w/him as he grow up! Hope all is well w/you! Mary

Home of Pepper- The Splash Dog World Champion & Catahoula Dock Diving Record Holder
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ56-5d4vgg
this video is from march 09. it was a heated competition in which pepper started in a finals with a jump of 25'8 and was bested by a lab named Aspen that jumped 26'4 so Pepper responded with a second and final jump of 27'8 which is still a splashdogs world record. the day before this event pepper had also tied the super vertical world record with a grab of 7'6. you can hear the announcer talking about it in the background.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjDL2U8eirk&feature=related this is an event in Lehi, Utah. pepper knocked another one out of the park with a jump of 26'7.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlx6voiRWks&feature=fvw this is an event in Colorado. many of the spectators had never seen dock jumping before but they all insisted that a lab would be the only dog to compete with. Kinda felt good showing them labs take second when catahoula's come to play.

Pepper for the first time has earned an invite to the dockdogs world championships. the competition will be held labor day weekend in Salem, Oregon. most of the announcers at the competitions don't even know what a catahoula is but pepper certainly draws the biggest crowds and the most questions. people love the spots.
my wife and i are planning on coming up on the 31St. we look forward to meeting you then. let me know how the videos turn out.

Thank you,
Matt

Phoenix will be competing in Hunting, Herding and Dock Diving Competitions very soon! Best of luck!
